My name is Rico Mossesgeld, and I love Star Trek.
I love Star Trek so much that I dream of owning a copy of every single episode and film, from The Original Series, to Enterprise. By now you’re probably wondering why I’m geeking out on you.
Well, as I’ve written before, the most specific plans are the most effective. The same is true for dreams; the clearer your objective is, the more effective you’ll be at accomplishing it.

What Should We Really be Shocked About?
Published by Rico May 20th, 2008 in Current Events, Philippines and What. 2 CommentsIt must be the cynic in me, but I always wonder why cruel and base acts continue to surprise people. It’s like everyone would prefer to not understand human nature, intentionally ignoring the fact that every one of us is capable of evil.
It’s so easy for me to understand the rationale behind the RCBC Bank Robbery, because I am aware of how evil we can be. As filipinovoices.com writes:
The killers’ calculus was simple and chilling: No witnesses, lesser chances of getting caught. And so they went about their grisly business, systematically slaughtering ten people, whose grim fate was sealed the moment the butchers stepped into the bank.
To truly respect the friends and families wronged by those cold-blooded killers, we should not be shocked by the fact that fellow humans are capable of such bad things. We should know ourselves—and our capabilities—better.
Rather, we should be shocked that in our supposedly modern and civil society, such evil acts are allowed to prevail. We should be shocked that, despite the brutality of the act, most of us are resigned to the fact that these men may never be caught.
I recently got an email (via this blog’s contact form) that literally blew me away:
Hi there! I have been reading your blog since last year and I just chanced upon your old post where you shared that you just graduated at 24. Wow. Pretty inspiring. Thanks for sharing that. I am currently having troubles finishing. I am 8 subjects away from that diploma and I feel energized after reading your post. I feel like enrolling now

This gracious reader was talking about Fool for Five’s first post, where I explained why it took me 8 years to finish college, and how I almost gave up on the university life completely.
It’s always nice to see a blog affect someone else positively. Who knows? This could easily be the defining moment of my blogging for this year.
To dear XXXX, stick with it man (or woman). You’re almost there! Let me tell you, few things will match what you feel as you walk down the aisle to Pomp and Circumstance, towards the stage to receive that mock diploma.
If you don’t like working in the office, Dine’s offer is one you can’t refuse.
Alternatively, if you want to interact with leading local internet marketing personalities on a regular basis, you can still apply for the job opening I publicized a few days ago.
